About Pilates:
The
Pilates Method is designed to strengthen muscles by primarily focusing on
the development of a strong body center or "core" (abdominal and postural
muscles). The rest of the body can be safely stretched and conditioned. The
Pilates Method emphasizes total body alignment. Abdominal and lower back
stabilization result in improved posture, flexibility, strength, endurance
and coordination. Pilates is a
fantastic adjunct to complete any individual’s conditioning program.
Remember, performing
Pilates-style workouts can strengthen, lengthen, stretch, balance, tone, relax
AND energize your
body in a short amount of time. But you must do them at least 2 – 3 times per
week in order to see significant results fast. The great thing about Pilates
method exercise is that, once you learn
to do the movements well, it’s extremely enjoyable.
